Shreyas’ musical journey began at the tender age of two, captivated by the slokas constantly played at home, which he soon started to recite with their melodies. This early immersion led him to formal training in Carnatic vocal music, the classical tradition of South India, at five, a journey he continues under the guidance of Guru Smt. Anuradha Suresh.
His violin studies progressed at the Swaradhika School of Carnatic Music under the tutelage of Smt. Radhika Devrajan, whose mentorship has been instrumental in shaping his discipline and expression. In learning the violin, Shreyas proudly carries forward a family legacy, following the footsteps of his violinist maternal grand father and maternal grandmother. His training has also been enriched by the guidance of Ms Nidhi Devrajan and Sri Harish Vijayaraghavan.
Encouraged by his gurus, Shreyas has actively participated in Sangeetha Sevas at temples and various competitions. He has successfully cleared the Sampada Carnatic Music Exams (Levels 1 & 2 with first class and distinction) from Silicon Andhra Music Performing Arts & Dance Academy for violin and is now pursuing the senior level. His performance experience includes vocal concerts and appearances at events like VTV seva charity concerts, Purandaradasar Day events, India Fair 2018, and Spandana Foundation events, as well as violin performances at Trimurthy Day Celebrations, Sangeetha Sevas, Krishna Vrundhavan events, and Sri Mahaperiyava Manimandapam events.
Demonstrating versatility, Shreyas is also skilled in Western violin, learning under Mr. Panov. He has given multiple solo performances and is a valued member of his school’s Chamber Orchestra, led by Ms. Pasquarelli, recently representing his school in the prestigious CJMEA Orchestra at the regional level.
Beyond his musical pursuits, Shreyas achieved third place in the Eye Level Learning Center Spelling Bee contest (2019) and actively engaged in Science Fair projects throughout elementary school. He is also a skilled swimmer, enjoys chess and soccer. Shreyas is part of the Edison United Soccer Association’s Edison Revolution U-13 recreational team. He has a particular passion for Pokémon Go, dreaming of attending international events. Furthermore, he attended Theatre Camp in 2019 and participated in several Taubenslag Production shows.
